Xeriscape is not a landscape style or garden design. Rather, it is a garden practice to conserve water. Almost half of all residential water use is for landscape irrigation. It is particularly advantageous in certain areas such as Santa Clarita which, in the last decade, has experienced dtought years followed by mandatory restrictions in outside watering. Xeriscape does not mean dry, barren landscape, but, through careful plant selection, can also be colorful and require a minimum amount of maintenance.
